New Delhi in pictures (CZ/EN/ES)

Pohlednice z Indie – Nové a staré Dillí

Postcards from India - New and Old Delhi

I came to India on March 3rd at night around ten. I was very lucky, because straight from the airport I got picked up by Varun Sharma a friend’s friend. Thanks to that I could enjoy my first impressions a little bit calmer. The following days I was learning about the Indian culture in the authentic environment of Varun’s home and also about this gigantic crazy city called Delhi with its pros and cons.

Nové Dillí - první dny v ulicích a první nesmělé fotografování. Všude spousta barev a vůní.
New Delhi - the first days and first shy shots. Colors and aromas all around.
Nueva Delhi - mis primeros días y primeras fotografías tímidas. Muchos colores y olores.
Shopping - the first city walk was with two lovely girls, so where did they take me? To the market! I was happy that the size of my backpack doesn't allow me to buy new things, the temptation was really hard to resist.
Marketplace - just a regular marketplace. However I kept feeling the exotic touch everywhere.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Sikh Temple - it was my favorite place of the day, After the wild streets it offers peace and relaxation. You can either come to do your rituals and leave, or you can stay a bit longer, listen to the singers, meditate and have a rest. The nicest thing was how automatically they accepted me there.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib - Večerní čas motlitby
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib - Evening prayers time
Street food - Everybody was warking me from it, but when you are with locals it's simply a must. Fried, vegetarian, on the street next to the cows... And I survived!!

In the park - I went to read my book in a park close to the house I was staying the first days, it is not in a touristic area so I caused a lot of attention of the locals. This whole group came to take pictures with me. So at the end I also took a picture of them... By the way noone from them knew English, so we were just smiling at each other.

Humayun's Tomb - All this beauty to commemorate one single person.

Humajúnova hrobka - Jedno nečekané setkání a protnutí různých kultur a náboženství. Díky tomuto muslimskému návštěvníkovi jsme měli možnost porozumět nápisům na hrobkách.
Humayun's Tomb - One unexpected encounter and intersections of different cultures and religions. Thanks to this muslim visitor we learned about the meaning of the letters on the tombs.
New Delhi - In a small street which I wouldn't find on my own we went for late lunch. To a restaurant which looked like a super regular one, but was very famous. I could say by observing three other foreigners/travelers just making a short documentary with the owner.
Delhi, Red Fort - A big area, quite refreshing and green for Delhi. And because we went there on Sunday there were also many local tourists. The entrance fees for the sights differ a lot for local and foreign tourists. For example here it was 10 rupees for Indians and 250 for foreigners.

Dillí, Červená pevnost - Část komplexu tvoří také nepřístupné a chátrající budovy postanevé angličany. Rozdíl stylů je jasně patrný.
Delhi, Red Fort - part of the areal constitutes of inaccessible and deteriorating houses built by the English. The difference in the architectonic style is obvious.

Delhi, Red Fort - a beautiful place, fitting to be the king's palace, but a bit falling apart now. well, it is being preserved so that it won't really fall apart, but it is not being restored.
Delhi, Red Fort - How was the palace looking like before having all the glass and mirror decorations which was reflecting the light everywhere?

Jama Masjid Mosque, Delhi - I was told that it was the biggest mosque in India. The truth is that it has quite a big square inside. And I didn't take a picture of it, because even though the entrance is for free if you are carrying a camera or other device with a camera you have to pay 300 rupees. Foreigners only. The locals are not searched and are taking pictures like crazy inside there.
Tibetian colony Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi -Together with other travelers I met in a hostel we went to a lovely place I probably wouldn't have discovered without them. A small Tibetan colony inside Delhi.
Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - The houses are very close to each other here so you are not relly sure about the time of the day. Sometimes a bit dark, but generally it protects the people from the heat.
Majnu-ka-tilla, Dillí - Tibetští mniši a tibetský chrám. V Indii. A ne úplně dobrovolně. Není to lehká situace.Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - Tibetan monks and Tibetan temple. In India. And not really voluntarily. It isn't an easy situation.Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - Monches tibetanos y un templo. En India. Y no completamente por voluntad propia. No es nada fácil, esta situación.
Majnu-ka-tilla, Dillí - když se sešeřilo, všude začala svítit světla obchodů a jejich vývěsních štítů.
Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - When it got dark the shop lights started to glitter everywhere.
Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - Prayers for free Tibet?Majnu-ka-tilla, Delhi - Oraciones por el Tibet libre?

    1. I am so happy to hear that! Best birthday present. That's the whole idea of keeping a blog, right? I hope I can keep it that way. And then once we meet we will fill the gaps, because not everything is possible to squeeze into few words on the blog. Huge hugs!

  3. Wow! Amazing! Amazing. One can see the evolution from the 'shy shots' to some beautiful captures. I just loved the Red Fort picture, so different from the conventional ones. Keep it coming! :)

    1. Thank you! Well, I wish the evolution was constant, but I don't consider myself to be a photographer. Just an amateur who tries to capture sometimes the life around. I also figured it isn't always easy for me to take pics of people, I feel like invading their space sometimes... Anyway, thanks for following and keep watching me! These comments are really encouraging!
